Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the championship lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the track edges before rotating through the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber P3, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
